Frontier photographer D.F. Barry took this picture of Reno-Benteen Battlefield on the tenth anniversary of the battle, June 1886. The photograph was taken approximately 90 yards to your left. Soldiers defended the highground encircling the saucer-like depression. Dr. Henry R. Porter established a field hospital for the wounded near the center, marked today by a white iron post and red cross.
