Charles Windolph, Co. H
Charles Windolph, last survivor of the Reno-Benteen contingent, pointed out the places where Jones and Meador were killed. Windolph died at the age of 98 on March 11, 1950.
"When the firing commenced in the morning (June 26), I said to Jones, 'Let's get off our coats.' He didn't move. I reached down and turned him over. He was dead, shot through the heart."
